The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed left-handed pitcher Hector Santiago on the 10-day disabled list with upper thoracic back pain and discomfort (retroactive to July 3). Santiago, who spent time on the disabled list earlier this season with a left shoulder strain, has gone 4-8 with a 5.63 ERA (70.1 IP, 44 ER), 31 walks and 51 strikeouts in 15 games (14 starts).
To replace Santiago on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Alan Busenitz from Triple-A Rochester. Busenitz, who made his major league debut earlier this season, has posted a 2.08 ERA (8.2 IP, 2 ER) in six games for the Twins this season.
