Wilk up, but DFA'd after loss; Pressly optioned

Right-hander Busenitz promoted for nightcap vs. Indians

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins recalled to start Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader with the Tribe at Target Field. To make room on the roster, the team optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Following the 9-3 twin bill-opening loss, though, Minnesota designated Wilk for assignment. To bring in another fresh arm, the club promoted for the nightcap.

Pressly (1-2, 8.18 ERA) has made 24 appearances for the Twins this season, including two outings since being recalled on Tuesday. Pressly tossed four frames over those two outings, allowing one run.

"It was more circumstantial," Minnesota manager Paul Molitor said. "I told him this morning that these are tough ones, especially when a guy is performing. But the need is there."

During Friday's loss, Pressly threw a pair of scoreless frames against the Indians. He recorded two strikeouts and did not walk a batter.

Pressly showed significant improvement after his recent demotion. He made three relief appearances in his last stint with the Red Wings, spinning four scoreless innings with seven strikeouts

The move was made to keep fresh arms in Minnesota's bullpen, so it is likely Pressly will return to the big league club sooner rather than later.

"He only had two appearances, but I think you saw fairly good performances," Molitor said. "He's a little more confident and has better mound presence."

Right-hander was tabbed as the 26th man for Saturday's twin bill. He has posted a 4.76 ERA in five games with Minnesota. Molitor said he could pitch in length for either game, if needed.
