The eighth Women's Baseball World Cup continued Monday with a pair of rescheduled opening-round matchups at the USSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, Fla. The 12-team tournament showcases some of the world's top female baseball players and runs through the end of the month, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the founding of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

Here's what you need to know from Monday's action:
Chinese Taipei 11, Netherlands 1 (five innings)
Chinese Taipei handily defeated Netherlands, 11-1, in a mercy-ruled shortened contest, earning its third victory of the tournament. Taipei was fueled by a balanced attack, with six batters driving in a run. Ya-Ling Tsai collected two hits with a pair of RBIs, a run scored and a double. Chiao-Chi Lai started and pitched two scoreless frames with a strikeout, holding the Netherlands lineup to three hits and a walk.
Esther Marielle Maliepaard plated the Netherlands' lone run with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch in the fourth inning, scoring Bianca Mooi. With the loss, the Netherlands falls to 0-4.
Venezuela 9, Puerto Rico 6
Venezuela picked up its second win by defeating Puerto Rico, 9-6. Venezuela jumped on board in the first on Osmari Del Valle Garcia Zacarias' RBI double. The Puerto Rican squad responded with four runs in the third, but Venezuela overcame that deficit with seven runs across the fourth and fifth. Seven Venezuelan batters collected RBIs, and starting pitcher Giddelys Josefina Cumana earned the win with six innings of work.

Lisandra Berrios-Lopez was a catalyst for the Puerto Rican offense, batting 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and four RBIs.
