CHICAGO -- Right-hander Tyler Chatwood has been battling soreness in his left hip and on Thursday, he was placed on the 10-day disabled list because of tightness there. Right-hander Dillon Maples was recalled from Triple-A Iowa.
Chatwood, 28, was 4-6 with a 5.22 ERA in 23 outings with the Cubs this season, including 20 as a starter.
Maples had a 2.41 ERA in 39 relief appearances with Iowa, striking out 71 over 37 1/3 innings.
