Here are three interesting items from around the big leagues on Thursday ...

Among these 54, his current .307 ranks as the fourth-highest average. Those with higher season-ending marks: Socks Seybold (.334 for the Athletics in 1901), Len Koenecke (.320 for the Dodgers in '34) and Kiddo Davis (.309 for the Phillies in '32).
