Behind-the-back flip leads to unreal DP in Minor League playoffs

September 20th, 2023

Tuesday night brought one of the craziest double plays that you’ll ever see in professional baseball.

In a Texas League semifinal game at Hodgetown Stadium in Amarillo between Double-A Amarillo (D-backs) and San Antonio (Padres), Amarillo shortstop Camden Duzenack started a seemingly impossible play that you have to see with your own eyes.

As Duzenack fell to snag a ground ball up the middle, he had the wherewithal to flip the ball behind him to second baseman Jancarlos Cintron, who fired the ball to first base to complete the wild double play. To do so in this specific moment -- in a professional playoff baseball game -- makes this effort all the more impressive.

The 28-year-old Duzenack was already having a strong season with a career-best .873 OPS in 73 games. Now, he has one of the highlight reel plays of the season to add to his résumé.
