Watch top Draft prospects in UA All-America Game

July 22nd, 2019

There aren’t a ton of opportunities to see the top high school players in the country on one field, but that chance will present itself today, when the 12th annual Under Armour All-America Game takes place at 3 p.m. ET from Wrigley Field, live on MLB Network and streaming on MLB.com.

The teams, which will be managed by Bill Ripken and Sean Casey, are selected by a committee of Baseball Factory scouts. While the game is certainly the main attraction, it’s hardly the lone benefit to being named an All-American. The players also got to workout in front of Major League scouts and participate in a home run derby as part of the four-day experience.

So just how prestigious is this event? Since the game began in 2008, there have been 108 first-round Draft picks, including 2019 picks Bobby Witt Jr., Riley Greene, CJ Abrams, Hunter Bishop and more.

It’s too early to say which of this year’s participants while be first-rounders, but there will be plenty of talent on the field, including Ed Howard (a shortstop from Mount Carmel HS in Ill.), Austin Hendrick (an outfielder from West Allegheny HS in Pa.) and Blaze Jordan (a 1B/3B from DeSoto Central HS in Miss.)

Howard and Hendrick, who finished with a .533 slugging percentage, both impressed in the inaugural Prospect Development Pipeline League, while Jordan, despite being just 16 years old, put on a tremendous power display during All-Star Week in Cleveland to win the High School Home Run Derby.
