The 25-27 Blue Jays enter the game on a season-high four-game winning streak and have secured the first two games of the series against the Pirates.
Toronto struggled mightily to begin the season and endured tons of injuries that are still impacting the roster. With that said, the Jays have played much better baseball and put themselves firmly in the playoff picture again. Even better news for the Blue Jays is they have a real chance to sweep on Sunday, when their ace Dylan Cease toes the rubber. In the first year of a seven-year contract, Cease has a 2.98 ERA and 84 strikeouts in 10 starts.
The Pirates, meanwhile, boast a 26-26 record and sit in last place in the NL Central. The Buccos are a competitive group for the first time in years, mainly thanks to Paul Skenes' continued excellence and one of the better pitching staffs in baseball. Longtime Pirate Mitch Keller will take the mound on Sunday -- the right-hander has a 3.86 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 10 starts this season.
Who are the announcers for this game?
Matt Vasgersian will be the play-by-play announcer for many of the MLB Sunday Leadoff games, and he will often work with analysts who are associated with the teams involved in each week's game. This week, however, it will be Giants broadcaster Dave Flemming, who joined the NBC/Peacock crew earlier this week. Flemming will be joined by analysts and former players Dexter Fowler and Matt Capps.
