Righty Warwick Saupold was 3-1 with a 2.37 ERA in 30 1/3 innings over eight outings for Toledo this season.

BALTIMORE -- The Tigers didn't just call down to their farm system in the hopes of helping their taxed bullpen. They went Down Under for right-hander Warwick Saupold.
The 26-year-old Australian was called up from Triple-A Toledo for the first time in his career Friday ahead of Detroit's matchup with Baltimore.
Saupold replaced left-handed pitcher Daniel Norris, who was sent back to Toledo after being recalled Wednesday.
"He started on Monday, so he can give us innings," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said of the Perth, Australia, native.
Norris pitched one inning Thursday as the last of five relievers to face Baltimore in Detroit's ninth loss in 10 games.
Saupold is 3-1 with a 2.37 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings for Toledo this season. Now in his fifth season, he is 28-29 with a 3.87 ERA in the Minors.
"[Former Tigers manager] Jim Leyland has talked about him for a couple years," Ausmus said. "He really likes him. ... We'll find out."
