
The Washington Nationals made the following roster moves on Monday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations Paul Toboni made the announcements.
- Recalled right-handed pitcher Orlando Ribalta from Triple-A Rochester
- Recalled right-handed pitcher Jackson Rutledge from Triple-A Rochester
- Placed right-handed pitcher Cole Henry on the 15-day Injured List with a right rotator cuff strain
- Placed left-handed pitcher Ken Waldichuk on the 15-day Injured List with left forearm tightness
Ribalta, 28, went 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA and a .158 opponents’ batting average (3-for-19) in six outings with Triple-A Rochester this season. He struck out six batters and issued just one walk in 5.1 innings pitched. Ribalta tossed scoreless relief in five of the six appearances.
Ribalta has struck out 28 batters in 27.2 innings across in 26 Major League games since making his debut in 2024. He enjoyed four stints with Washington in 2025, including making the Opening Day roster for the first time in his career.
Rutledge, 27, has allowed one earned run on three hits with one strikeout and no walks in his last three relief appearances prior to being recalled from Triple-A Rochester. In six outings this season, he’s posted a .211 opponents’ average (4-for-19) and a 5.40 ERA.
Washington’s first-round pick in the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, Rutledge transitioned to the bullpen in 2025 and went on to make 63 appearances last season. He worked 10 consecutive scoreless appearances from Aug. 21-Sept. 7 (9.0 IP) and struck out 20 with just five walks in his final 23 games (22.1 IP) of the 2025 season.
