New faces
When the 2022 international signing period opened last January, the Mariners jumped in with both feet. They signed Lazaro Montes for $2.5 million, Michael Arroyo for $1.375 million and Martin Gonzalez for $1.3 million. All three will begin their Mariners careers in the Dominican Summer League.

On the shelf
Injuries have limited 2020 first-round pick Emerson Hancock to just 44 2/3 innings as a pro, as arm and shoulder issues knocked him out for large chunks of the 2021 season. He’s on the sidelines again now, this time with a lat injury.
