Team to watch
The Yankees might have baseball's deepest farm system and have spread their talent pretty evenly among their affiliates and their extended spring training program. High Class A Tampa stands out the most, with Florial and a second Top 100 Prospect in Abreu (currently sidelined after having his appendix removed in February). Perez, Loaisiga and Stephan give the Tarpons three more talented righties, of which New York seems to have an endless supply.

New faces
Two of New York's more significant signees from last summer have yet to make their pro debuts. Schmidt, a 2017 first-round choice, still is working his way back from Tommy John surgery last May. Pereira, the best prospect in the Yankees' banner 2017-18 international class, isn't quite 17 years old and will play his first game this summer in Rookie ball. Righty Then joined the organization as part of the Nick Rumbelow trade with the Mariners in November.

On the shelf
Five of our Yankees top prospects are on various disabled lists: McKinney (sprained left shoulder joint) and Heller (bone spur in elbow) in New York, Estrada (gunshot wound in hip from a January robbery attempt) at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Abreu at Tampa and Schmidt at low Class A Charleston. Garcia is nursing a minor injury in extended spring training but should join Charleston in the near future.
