CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox and Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC) today announced a special sweepstakes offering fans the chance to win an appraised replica of the team’s iconic 2005 World Series championship ring.
Continuing the organization’s 125-year anniversary celebrations and the 20-year anniversary of the 2005 World Series Champion White Sox, this unique ring sweepstakes is open to fans now at whitesox.com/ring. Entries are just $20 with all proceeds benefiting CWSC and its ongoing mission to make Chicago a better place to live, work and play.
The latest CWSC fundraising effort marks a rare chance to claim a prized piece of White Sox history. The memento is one of just 10 replica rings commemorating the team’s unforgettable World Series sweep over the Houston Astros. These treasured pieces of history were created in the months following the championship to honor the loyalty and passion of White Sox fans. The select remaining few are held in safekeeping by the organization and reserved for milestones such as this 20-year anniversary celebration.
“This sweepstakes is a unique and meaningful way to honor one of the most iconic moments in White Sox history while giving one lucky fan the opportunity to hold a piece of that championship legacy in their hand,” said Christine O’Reilly, White Sox senior vice president of community relations and executive director of CWSC. “Every entry fuels our CWSC mission to fund impactful programs across Chicago. It’s championship pride meeting purpose.”
The replica 2005 World Series ring is currently independently appraised at $12,500. It is made of 10-karat yellow gold and features a black onyx top emblazoned with the White Sox emblem, set with 37 round diamonds (SI2 clarity, H color). A two-tier white gold bezel surrounds the onyx with 58 round cubic zirconia stones totaling 2.32 carats. One side of the ring displays “No. 1 Fan” alongside the team’s 2005 season record.
The sweepstakes is open now through Sunday, July 13 at 4 p.m. CT.
The winner will be revealed on Tuesday, July 15, just days following the organization’s celebration of ‘05 Weekend. Welcoming players, coaches and broadcasters, ceremonies and commemorative promotions will include the unveiling of the Mark Buehrle statue on the ballpark concourse and a 2005 Champs Hawaiian Shirt, presented by Beggars Pizza, to the first 15,000 fans on Friday, July 11, a Mark Buehrle Replica Statue giveaway, presented by Miller Lite, to the first 15,000 fans, ages 21+, on Saturday, July 12, and a bobblehead giveaway featuring South Side legends Buehrle, Jon Garland, Freddy García and José Contreras, presented by United, to the first 10,000 fans on Sunday, July 13.
