SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Adam Eaton singled, doubled and homered, and top prospect Carson Fulmer gave up one run in two innings as the White Sox held off the Royals for a 7-6 Cactus League win on Saturday at Surprise Stadium.
Eaton had nerve decompression surgery on his left shoulder in October and is on a throwing program for rehab, so he is not playing the field. He will be the DH for an indefinite period.

Eaton doubled on the game's first pitch from Royals right-hander Ian Kennedy, who made his first spring start since signing a five-year, $70 million deal in the offseason. Eaton then homered in the third on the first pitch he saw from Danny Duffy.
Fulmer is the White Sox No. 1 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, and will start the season at Double-A Birmingham or Triple-A Charlotte. Fulmer started Saturday because the White Sox don't like using their regular starting pitchers against division opponents in Arizona.
"He got hit around a little bit but bounced back and made some pitches," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said of Fulmer. "Part of it is going to be just the experience of him getting in here and facing these hitters and making adjustments and continuing to throw strikes."
Left-hander Jose Quintana threw in a B game earlier Saturday.
Kennedy gave up four hits and one run over two innings. He struck out three while throwing 34 pitches, 23 for strikes.
Duffy, fighting for a rotation spot, struggled, giving up five hits and three runs over two innings.
"I felt pretty good," Duffy said. "Everything was coming out pretty good. I lost a couple of changeups. I felt like I located the ball pretty good outside of [Tyler] Saladino [who walked].
"Everything was down. The Eaton home run -- he was completely looking for one pitch and he got it [fastball]. He's in swing mode right now and he's a good hitter."
Shortstop Alcides Escobar made his spring debut. He doubled and scored two runs, scoring once on a sacrifice fly to the second baseman. Salvador Perez also debuted and went 0 for 3.
Cody Decker hit a solo home run in the ninth inning off Matt Lollis to put the Royals within one run.
Royals up next: Right-hander Chris Young takes the mound for his first start of Spring Training as the Royals travel to Tempe to play the Angels in a 2:10 p.m. CT start. Young is fighting for one of the two final rotation spots.
White Sox up next:Carlos Rodon makes his Cactus League debut for the White Sox, although he already has thrown two innings during an Intrasquad game. Jake Petricka is scheduled to throw after the southpaw, as is Dan Jennings and Matt Albers. The game against the Padres begins at 2:05 p.m. CT at Camelback Ranch.
