No. 11 overall selection Burger in line for $3.7M signing bonus

June 20th, 2017

The Chicago White Sox and first-round selection Jake Burger have agreed to terms on a contract, according to MLB.com's Jim Callis. The club has not yet confirmed the agreement.
Burger, the No. 11 overall pick in the 2017 Draft, will receive a $3.7 million signing bonus from the White Sox, per Callis. The suggested slot value for the pick is just under $4.2 million.
Burger, considered by some to be the best power hitter in the Draft, batted .328 with 22 home runs and 65 RBIs in 63 games as the starting third baseman for No. 22 Missouri State in 2017. Impressively, the 21-year-old had more walks (43) than strikeouts (38) in 247 at-bats this season.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Burger was named First Team All-America by Baseball America and the Joe Carter Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year. He is also a semifinalist for the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award.
