GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Last June's trade between the Padres and White Sox involving James Shields and Fernando Tatis Jr. was briefly revisited during San Diego's 6-5 Cactus League victory Monday.
Shields started for the White Sox and allowed four runs (two earned) over 2 2/3 innings. Tatis Jr., the eighth-rated Padres prospect per MLBPipeline.com, came into the game at shortstop and finished 0-for-1 with one run scored.
"Yeah it's always good to see the guys over there," said Shields, who was with San Diego in 2015-16. "I enjoyed my time with the staff and the players over there."
Hayes having a blast
Danny Hayes isn't getting too caught up in his impressive start to Spring Training, featuring a .385 average with seven RBIs.
"[I'm just trying to] embrace the opportunity," said the left-handed hitting first baseman. "This is my first big league Spring Training. So [I'm] basically just trying to enjoy it and have fun.
"It's nice being in this locker room with all the veterans and guys who have been there. It has been a fun transition."

Hayes tied for the Triple-A Charlotte lead in home runs last season with 10 despite being limited to 55 games due to a groin injury. Hayes called the injury unfortunate, but feels as if he came back stronger after dealing with the adversity.
"Just try to stay healthy and try to hit the baseball hard," Hayes said. "I try to go up there and battle and try to have a good approach every day and don't throw any at-bats away. If I do that, then the results will take care of themselves."
White Sox contribution to Team Israel
Alex Katz, a left-handed hurler in the White Sox organization, threw a scoreless inning for Team Israel on Monday morning in the squad's 2-1 victory in 10 innings over Korea to open the 2017 World Baseball Classic. The Pool A contest took place in Seoul, Korea.
Katz, 23, was a 27th round pick in the 2015 MLB Draft. He has 97 strikeouts over 87 2/3 career Minor League innings. Brad Goldberg, who picked up two saves in helping Israel reach the World Baseball Classic out of the Brooklyn qualifier, elected to stay in big league camp with the White Sox as opposed to pitching again for Israel.
Frazier still targeting Wednesday
Third baseman Todd Frazier is scheduled to play his first Cactus League game Wednesday at home against the Brewers after being slowed since the second week of camp with a left oblique strain.

"Today he did a nice job, he worked and did everything," White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. "It will be limited. He hasn't played in very many games, so we'll limit it to a couple of innings, four at-bats or five innings, so we'll see how the game goes."
