White sox place Austin Jackson on 15-day disabled list

Prior to tonight's game vs. Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Austin Jackson on the 15-day disabled list with a medial meniscus tear in his left knee and recalled outfielder Jason Coats from Class AAA Charlotte.

Prior to tonight's game vs. Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Austin Jackson on the 15-day disabled list with a medial meniscus tear in his left knee and recalled outfielder Jason Coats from Class AAA Charlotte.
Jackson, 29, is hitting .254 (46-181) with 12 doubles, two triples, no home runs, 18 RBI and 24 runs scored over 54 games this season, his first with the White Sox after signing as a free agent on March 7. He owns a .385 (15-39) average over his last 11 games and has made 52 starts in center field.
Coats, 26, is batting .335 (55-164) with 13 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 24 RBI and 26 runs scored over 43 games with the Knights this season. He leads the International League in average and ranks second with a .966 OPS.
Coats, 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, was recalled from Charlotte on June 4 and made his major-league debut that night at Detroit. He was optioned back to the Knights on June 7 after appearing in two games with the White Sox.
