Prior to tonight's game at Boston, the Chicago White Sox placed right-handed pitcher Zach Putnam on the 15-day disabled list with ulnar neuritis in his right elbow and recalled right-hander Chris Beck from Class AAA Charlotte.

Beck, 25, has gone 4-3 with a 4.47 ERA (28 ER/56.1 IP) and 40 strikeouts over 15 games (seven starts) with Charlotte in 2015 while limiting left-handers to a .193 (16-83) average. His last seven appearances with the Knights came out of the bullpen, where he posted a 1.93 ERA (3 ER/14.0 IP) and threw 2.0-plus IP four times.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Beck made one start over two stints with the White Sox in 2015, allowing five runs (four earned) on 10 hits over 6.0 IP in the second game of a doubleheader on May 28 at Baltimore.

He originally was drafted by Chicago in the second round of the 2012 draft out of Georgia Southern University. Beck will wear uniform No. 54.

Putnam, 28, is 1-0 with a 2.30 ERA (7 ER/27.1 IP) and 30 strikeouts over 25 relief appearances with the White Sox this season. He was removed from last night's game against the Red Sox after walking the first three batters to open the ninth inning.
