Prior to tonight's game at Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Anthony Ranaudo from Class AAA Charlotte. He takes the roster spot of right-hander Carson Fulmer, who was optioned to Charlotte following last night's game.
Ranaudo, 26, is scheduled to start tonight's game at Progressive Field. He has gone 6-5 with a 3.35 ERA (36 ER/96.2 IP) and two complete games over 16 starts with the Knights this season. Ranaudo made his White Sox debut on July 27 at Wrigley Field and suffered the loss after allowing three runs on just two hits (both home runs) over 6.2 IP. He held the Cubs hitless through the first five innings, and hit his first career home run, a solo shot in the fifth inning.
Ranaudo, who was optioned on July 28, was acquired by the White Sox on May 12 from Texas in exchange for right-hander Matt Ball. He was with the Rangers from May 6-10 and made two relief appearances. Ranaudo has appeared in 14 games (10 starts) over parts of three major-league seasons with the Red Sox (2014), Rangers (2015-16) and White Sox (2016), going 5-5 with a 6.09 ERA (44 ER/65.0 IP).
