What to know about White Sox Spring Training

February 7th, 2023

CHICAGO -- The underwhelming 81-81 showing from the 2022 White Sox is now history.

Gone but not forgotten, as Chicago has refocused that disappointment into a driving force for results more befitting of the talent on its roster.

“Obviously, we had such high expectations for last season,” starting pitcher Dylan Cease said. “If you take pride in what you're doing and you really took that to heart, failing and losing like that, it hurts. If we take that to heart and use that, any time you can have a little chip on your shoulder and have that extra motivation, it’s always a positive.”

Here are a few things you'll need to know about Chicago's first Spring Training under the guidance of manager Pedro Grifol.

The game also marks Grifol’s first as White Sox manager.

Andrew Vaughn was a first-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft as a first baseman and will be moving to his natural position after primarily playing the outfield. That spot became available upon Abreu’s exit, with Chicago not only needing to fill the void left by Abreu’s offensive production but also his vast leadership.
