Flores to see doctor due to sore right wrist

September 14th, 2016

WASHINGTON -- Though ' neck has healed since his home-plate collision Saturday in Atlanta, he has not fully recovered from injuries sustained during that play.
Flores said after the Mets' 1-0 loss to the Nationals on Wednesday that he plans to visit a doctor on Thursday morning to address lingering soreness he is experiencing in his right wrist. Though an X-ray taken on the wrist immediately after Saturday's game revealed no broken bones, Flores has been unable to take batting practice due to the issue.
"I guess I landed on it or something," Flores said. "I don't know. But ever since I got [to Washington], I can't swing a bat."
Flores may have fallen behind on the Mets' depth chart at second base, but his .340/.383/.710 slash line against left-handed pitchers makes him one of their best options off the bench. Though the Mets are not scheduled to see any lefty starters this weekend against Minnesota, the Twins do feature multiple left-handers out of their bullpen. As such, the Mets could use Flores' services if he receives a positive diagnosis on Thursday.
"I've never had something like that in my wrist," Flores said. "We'll see."
