Guzman set a pair of career highs in his last start as he struck out 10 over 6 2/3 scoreless innings in a dominant performance for Class A Short Season Staten Island. The 21-year-old righty, whom the Yankees acquired last fall from Houston as part of the Brian McCann trade, allowed two hits and two walks. Guzman is 3-0 in three starts this season with a 1.53 ERA, a .123 opponents' average and 21 strikeouts in 17 2/3 frames. Clarke, 24, was sharp in his last start for Double-A Jackson as he allowed one unearned run on one hit with three walks and seven strikeouts in six innings. A bout of right forearm tendinitis delayed the start of Stephens' season until June, but it hasn't taken him long to make up for that lost time. Through his first five starts for Birmingham, Stephens owns a 1.20 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP with 24 strikeouts in 30 innings. In his last turn, the 24-year-old righty worked a season-high 6 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out five.
