Pipeline Preview: Mateo looks to stay hot for Trenton

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: (Yankees' No. 4), Trenton vs. Reading (7 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Mateo went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles and RBIs on Wednesday as he recorded his seventh multihit performance in nine games since being promoted to Double-A Trenton. The No. 37 overall prospect owns a .472 average (17-for-36) in that span, with seven extra-base hits, 14 RBIs and 12 runs scored. The 22-year-old shortstop was promoted after he batted .240/.288/.400 with 28 extra-base hits and 28 stolen bases.

Pitcher to watch: Alec Hansen (White Sox No. 10), Winston-Salem vs. Down East (7 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Hansen has completed five innings in both of his starts for Class A Advanced Winston-Salem. He's allowed one earned run on eight hits in 10 innings in that span, with 10 strikeouts and three walks. The 22-year-old righty was promoted to the Carolina League following a dominant first half with Class A Kannapolis during which he posted a 2.48 ERA and .207 opponents' average with 92 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings (13 starts).

Duel of the day: (Braves' No. 9) vs. Grayson Long (Angels' No. 5), Mississippi at Mobile (7:35 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Gohara, MLB Pipeline's No. 99 overall prospect, struck out five of the final six batters he faced en route to completing three perfect frames in his last start for Double-A Mississippi. The 20-year-old lefty has pitched to a 3.03 ERA with 35 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings since being promoted to the Southern League from Class A Advanced Florida, where he'd posted a 1.98 ERA over 36 1/3 innings spanning seven starts.

Long also has fared well since moving up to Double-A. The 23-year-old righty enters the day with a 3.18 ERA through 13 starts for Mobile, and he's gone three straight turns allowing one earned run or fewer. Overall, he's fanned 59 batters in 68 innings on the season, all while holding opposing hitters to a .232 average.
