NEW YORK -- The Yankees placed right-hander Branden Pinder on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a right elbow strain, recalling right-hander Nick Goody from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that Pinder was having tests on the elbow on Friday afternoon. The 27-year-old Pinder made one appearance for New York this season, permitting two runs and three hits in an inning (18.00 ERA) against the Athletics in Wednesday's 5-2 loss.
Goody, 24, had posted a 4.76 ERA over five Triple-A appearances. In 5 2/3 innings with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Goody permitted three runs and six hits with a walk and 11 strikeouts.
