NEW YORK -- The Yankees have reacquired outfielder Jake Cave from the Reds as a Rule 5 Draft return and assigned him to Double-A Trenton.
Cave, 23, had been competing for a big league roster spot in Cincinnati's camp and was placed on waivers last week. By rule, Cave was offered back to the Yankees for $25,000.
The left-handed hitter played 125 games at Double-A Trenton and seven with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last season, posting a .278/.339/.359 split line with 25 doubles, six triples, two homers, 39 RBIs and 17 stolen bases.
