Hale: Greinke undisputed Opening Day starter

February 17th, 2016

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Heading into Thursday's first pitcher and catcher workout for the D-backs, it appears three spots in the rotation are spoken for with Zack Greinke, Shelby Miller and Patrick Corbin.
There will be competition for the final two spots, and once that's decided, manager Chip Hale and his staff will figure out how to align the pitchers.
Except for Greinke, who Hale reiterated will start on Opening Day against the Rockies.

"Zack will be our Opening Day starter," Hale said. "He'll be our No. 1, obviously. After that, we'll look at that the matchups throughout the first month and try to match it up as best we can."
Based on their performances last season, Rubby De La Rosa and Robbie Ray have a leg up on the final two rotation spots heading into Spring Training, but there are others in the mix including Archie Bradley, Zack Godley and Tyler Wagner.
Greinke, who signed a six-year, $206.5 million deal this past offseason, was 19-3 with a 1.66 ERA for the Dodgers last season and finished second in National League Cy Young Award voting.
