1B/DH Daniel Vogelbach named to American League All-Star team

Marks the 1st time Vogelbach has been selected as an All-Star in his career.

HOUSTON, Texas - Seattle Mariners First baseman / designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach has been selected to play for the American League in the 90th annual Major League Baseball All-Star Game presented by Mastercard on Tuesday, July 9 at Progressive Field in Cleveland, OH. Major League Baseball made the announcement today. 

This is Vogelbach's first career All-Star selection.

The 2019 American League and National League All-Star starters were announced earlier on Thursday, June 27 during "Google MLB All-Star Election Night" on ESPN. 

Vogelbach, 26, entered play today ranked 8th in the American League with a .911 OPS this season. The 6-foot, 250-pound first baseman/designated hitter is batting .244 (63x258) with 47 runs scored, 11 doubles, 20 home runs, 48 RBI, 56 walks, a .379 on-base percentage and a .519 slugging percentage in 79 games. Among American League leaders entering play today, he ranked T7th in home runs, T16th in RBI, 5th in walks, 8th in on-base percentage, and 14th in slugging percentage. His 56 walks so far this season are the most by a Mariners player prior to the All-Star break since John Olerud tallied 57 walks in 2002. Overall Vogelbach ranks T8th most walks in club history before the break. He is the first Mariners left-handed batter in franchise history to record 20 home runs and 50 walks prior to the All-Star break.

The 2019 All-Star Game will be played at Progressive Field on Tuesday, July 9 at 5:00 pm PT (8:00 pm ET).
