A's acquire RHP Wilmer Font from Dodgers for Minor League LHP Logan Salow

The Oakland A's acquired right-handed pitcher Wilmer Font from the Los Angeles Dodgers for minor league left-handed pitcher Logan Salow, the club announced today.

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland A's acquired right-handed pitcher Wilmer Font from the Los Angeles Dodgers for minor league left-handed pitcher Logan Salow, the club announced today.
Font was 0-2 with an 11.32 ERA and .383 opponents batting in six relief appearances with Los Angeles before he was designated for assignment on Monday. He walked just one batter in 10.1 innings but surrendered five home runs, which are tied for the most among Major League relievers. The 27-year-old left-hander has made 14 appearances in four seasons in the majors with Texas (2012-13) and Los Angeles-NL (2017-18) and has an 11.42 ERA. Font was originally signed by the Rangers as a non-drafted free agent on July 11, 2006 and is 38-29 with a 3.61 ERA in 203 games, including 105 starts, in nine seasons as a minor leaguer. He has struck out 730 in 618.2 innings, an average of 10.62 per nine innings.
Salow was 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA and .063 opponents batting average in four relief appearances with Single-A Beloit. He was selected by the A's in the sixth round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Kentucky. The 23-year-old left-hander pitched for the A's affiliate in the Arizona Rookie League and Short-Season Single-A Vermont last year and is 4-3 with a 1.52 ERA in 20 career relief appearances.
