A's recall Coulombe and Overton; place Triggs on the DL and option Ladendorf

The Oakland A's recalled left-handed pitchers Daniel Coulombe and Dillon Overton from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced Tuesday. The A's also placed right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 18 with a left shin contusion and optioned infielder Tyler Ladendorf to Nashville.

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's recalled left-handed pitchers Daniel Coulombe and Dillon Overton from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today. The A's also placed right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 18 with a left shin contusion and optioned infielder Tyler Ladendorf to Nashville.
Coulombe joins the A's for the fifth time this year and is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 13 relief appearances. He pitched in three games during his most recent stint from June 30 to July 3 and was 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA. The 26-year-old left-hander had no decisions and a 1.08 ERA in 20 relief appearances with Nashville. Coulombe struck out 35, walked just six and did not allow a home run in 25.0 innings. He had two scoreless outings following his most recent option on July 4 (2.0 ip, 1 h, 1 bb, 1 so).
Overton joins the A's for the second time this year as he was 1-1 with an 11.42 ERA in two starts during his first stint. He picked up the win in his Major League debut June 25 at Los Angeles (AL) but then allowed eight runs in 3.0 innings for the loss in his next start June 30 against San Francisco. The 24-year-old left-hander is 10-4 with a 2.98 ERA in 16 games, 15 starts, with Nashville. Overton went 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA in two starts following his July 1 option and is now 9-0 with a 1.71 ERA over his last nine Triple-A starts. He is leading the Pacific Coast League in wins, ranks fourth in ERA and is ninth in strikeouts (81).
Triggs has no decisions and a 5.83 ERA in 16 games over seven stints with the A's. He was injured on Sunday against Toronto when he was hit on the shin by a Josh Donaldson line drive in the first inning. Triggs is also 2-1 with two saves and a 3.14 ERA in 13 relief appearances with Nashville.
Ladendorf was recalled from Nashville July 1 for his third stint with the A's and went 1-for-11 (.091) in 10 games. He is batting .083 in 35 games overall with Oakland. Ladendorf is also batting .273 with a home run and five RBI in 25 games with the Sounds.
