A's recall LHP Surkamp from Triple-A Nashville; Place LHP Manaea on DL

The Oakland A's recalled left-handed pitcher Eric Surkamp from Triple-A Nashville and placed left-handed pitcher Sean Manaea on the 15-day disabled list with a left pronator strain, the club announced today.

The Oakland A's recalled left-handed pitcher Eric Surkamp from Triple-A Nashville and placed left-handed pitcher Sean Manaea on the 15-day disabled list with a left pronator strain, the club announced today.
 
Surkamp joins the A's for the fourth time this year and is scheduled to make his seventh start of the season tonight against Texas. He was called up the first time April 8 and went 0-2 with a 5.59 ERA in four starts before he was optioned back to Nashville April 25. The 28-year-old left-hander made just one start in each of his next two stints and is 0-3 with a 6.41 ERA and .322 opponents batting average in six starts overall. Surkamp is also 3-1 with a 3.07 ERA and .206 opponents batting average in five starts with Nashville, where he has 34 strikeouts in 29.1 innings.
 
Manaea is 2-4 with a 6.02 ERA in nine starts since he was selected from Nashville April 29. He left the game last night after 4.1 innings with the injury. The 24-year-old left-hander is 2-3 with a 4.17 ERA over his last six starts after going 0-1 with an 11.37 ERA over his first three starts. Manaea began the year at Nashville and went 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in three starts in his Triple-A debut.
