A’s Recall RHP Mengden from Las Vegas; Option RHP Wendelken to Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s have recalled right-handed pitcher Daniel Mengden from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned right-handed pitcher J.B. Wendelken to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

 Mengden joins the A’s for the second time this year after going 1-1 with a 5.09 ERA in five games, including three starts, during his first stint. He began the year at Las Vegas and was recalled by Oakland May 12. The 26-year-old right-hander started in each of his first three games and then pitched in relief twice before he was optioned to Las Vegas June 6. Mengden went 1-0 with a 6.10 ERA in two games, one start, with the Aviators following his option and is 4-2 with a 3.47 ERA and .210 opponents batting average in nine games, seven starts, overall at Triple-A

 Wendelken was recalled from Las Vegas last Friday for his second stint with the A’s this year. He did not allow a run in two games and 2.2 innings, including last night at St. Louis when he tossed 0.2 scoreless innings for his first Major League win. Wendelken has a 4.94 ERA and .220 opponents batting average in 20 appearances overall with Oakland and is 4-1 with a 6.38 ERA and .299 opponents batting average in 13 games with the Aviators.
