A's to Host Spirit Week March 27 - 31

The Oakland Athletics will celebrate the start of their 50th season in Oakland by hosting a number of fan and community events, giveaways and special appearances during the Oakland A's Spirit Week, Monday, March 27 - Friday, March 31.

The Oakland Athletics will celebrate the start of their 50th season in Oakland by hosting a number of fan and community events, giveaways and special appearances during the Oakland A's Spirit Week, Monday, March 27 - Friday, March 31. The week will culminate with Opening Night on Monday, April 3 when the A's play host to the Los Angeles Angels at 7:05 p.m. at the Oakland Coliseum.
Oakland A's Spirit Week events include:
· Monday, March 27, noon: A's Flag Raising at Oakland City Hall. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, A's mascot Stomper and A's fans will raise the Oakland A's flag above Oakland City Hall.
· Monday, March 27, 6 - 9 p.m.: A's mural unveiling, 19th Street and Webster, Oakland. A's fans are invited to join the team for a special unveiling of a new A's mural on the side of the PG&E building at 19th Street and Webster. The A's commissioned the mural from the Illuminaries, Oakland-based street muralists. The unveiling will include giveaways and music from 6 - 8 p.m. and a special 3D video projection on the mural at 8 p.m. Fans can also join the A's at Bar 355 (355 19th Street) from 6 - 8 p.m. for a special Budweiser happy hour featuring the new A's Budweiser Elephant team can.
· Tuesday, March 28, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.: MLK Elementary School visit (960 10th Street). A's alumni Bip Roberts and Shooty Babitt, along with Terry Butler aka Mr. Community, will host a Youth Sports Nation "Play Ball" student assembly. The program will combine music, sports and community.
· Wednesday, March 29, 8 - 9 a.m.: Peet's Coffee on the A's. Stop by the Peet's Coffee at 1111 Broadway in Oakland to enjoy a free coffee of choice on the A's. The event will also include giveaways and a visit from Stomper and the Herd.
· Thursday, March 30, 4:30 p.m.: A's #RootedInOakland BART Takeover to Bay Bridge game. A's fans can join Stomper, the Herd and members of the team's front office for a BART Takeover to the Bay Bridge game. Fans are invited to meet the A's on the Coliseum plaza (between the Coliseum and Oracle Arena) from 4:30 - 5:15 p.m. to ride to the game with the A's and then walk together along Embarcadero to AT&T Park, filling the streets with A's chants and excitement. All A's fans with a ticket to that night's game who join the team at the Coliseum will receive a free roundtrip BART pass until supplies last.
· Monday, March 27 - Friday, March 31: A's #RootedInOakland social media pop-ups. Fans can follow the A's on Twitter and Facebook for location announcements for secret events and prize giveaways.
· Trade in your Giants cap for an A's one: Fans can trade in a San Francisco Giants cap for a new Green and Gold A's cap at all public Spirit Week events, including the April 1 Bay Bridge game at the Coliseum.
