A's trade infielder Joey Wendle

The Oakland A's traded infielder Joey Wendle to the Tampa Bay Rays for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the club announced today. Wendle was designated for assignment last Thursday when the A's signed Yusmeiro Petit.

The Oakland A's traded infielder Joey Wendle to the Tampa Bay Rays for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the club announced today. Wendle was designated for assignment last Thursday when the A's signed Yusmeiro Petit.
Wendle spent most of the 2017 season at Triple-A Nashville before he was promoted to Oakland Sept. 5 at the conclusion of the Sounds season. He went 4-for-13 (.308) with a home run and five RBI in eight games with the A's. Wendle also batted .285 with 29 doubles, eight triples, eight home runs, 54 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 118 games at Nashville.
