The Kansas City Royals today announced that leftfielder Alex Gordon will begin an injury rehabilitation assignment tomorrow with Northwest Arkansas (AA). The Naturals will be hosting Arkansas in a 2:05 game at Arvest Park in Springdale.
Gordon has been sidelined since suffering a right scaphoid fracture on May 22 in a foul territory collision with third baseman Mike Moustakas. Moustakas suffered a torn ACL in the collision and has since had surgery and is out for the remainder of the 2016 season.
The 32-year old Gordon, a four-time Rawlings Gold Glove winner, was hitting .211 in 42 games at the time the injury occurred. No timetable has been set as to the length of his injury rehab assignment.
