Angels agree to terms with Trevor Cahill

The Angels agreed to terms Thursday on a one-year contract with RHP Trevor Cahill.

The Angels agreed to terms Thursday on a one-year contract with RHP Trevor Cahill. The announcement was made by General Manager Billy Eppler.
Cahill, 30, made 21 appearances (20 starts) for Oakland in 2018 going 7-4 with a 3.76 ERA (110 IP - 46 ER), while holding opposing hitters to a .227 average (90/397). He allowed just eight home runs on the year and his average of 0.65 HR allowed per nine innings was a career best and fourth lowest mark in the American League (min. 100 IP). Additionally, his average of 7.36 hits allowed per nine innings was the ninth lowest in the A.L. He also reached the 100 strikeout mark for the sixth time in the last nine seasons. 
A native of Oceanside, CA, Cahill was selected to the American League All-Star team in 2010 and made six postseason relief appearances for the Cubs in 2015. He owns a 2.61 career ERA (41.1 IP - 12 ER) in eight career games (six starts) at Angel Stadium, his lowest mark for any A.L. ballpark (min. 25 IP). Cahill has compiled an 80-83 career record with a 4.08 ERA (1343.1 IP - 609 ER) and 1007 strikeouts across 10 Major League seasons with the Athletics (2009-11, '18), Diamondbacks (2012-14), Braves (2015), Cubs (2015-16), Padres (2017) and Royals (2017).
