Angels to begin season at Oakland for fifth time in seven seasons

ANAHEIM - Major League Baseball today announced the 2023 regular season schedule. The Angels will begin their 63rd season with an Opening Day game on Thursday, March 30 at Oakland. It will mark the fifth time in seven seasons that the Angels will start a season at the Oakland Coliseum and the first time in MLB history that any team begins a season in the same road ballpark at least five times in a seven-year span (ELIAS). Additionally, 2023 will be the ninth time the Angels will open a season against the Athletics, which is their second most against any opponent (11 openers vs. Mariners).

Following a six-game opening road trip against the Athletics (March 30, April 1-2) and Mariners (April 3-5) and an off day, the Angels will host the Toronto Blue Jays in the Home Opener at Angel Stadium on April 7. Overall, the Angels 2023 schedule features 13 total homestands and 13 road trips.

Starting in 2023, every MLB team will now face each of the other 29 clubs during each season. The Angels will play a franchise record 46 total Interleague games next year, including four games against the Dodgers and three games against each of the other 14 National League teams. In Freeway Series action, the Angels will host the Dodgers in a pair of games (June 20-21) and will visit Dodger Stadium for two games (July 7-8) to conclude the first half of the season.

The Angels will host Interleague games against the Washington Nationals (April 10-12), Miami Marlins (May 26-28), Chicago Cubs (June 6-8), Arizona Diamondbacks (June 30-July 2), Pittsburgh Pirates (July 21-23), San Francisco Giants (Aug. 7-9) and Cincinnati Reds (Aug. 21-23). The road Interleague schedule features visits to the Milwaukee Brewers (April 28-30), St. Louis Cardinals (May 2-4), Colorado Rockies (June 23-25), San Diego Padres (July 3-5), Atlanta Braves (July 31-Aug. 2), New York Mets (Aug. 25-27) and Philadelphia Phillies (Aug. 28-30).

The home schedule features a pair of 10-day (nine game) homestands, the first of which includes games against the Twins (May 19-21), Red Sox (May 22-24) and Marlins (May 26-28). The second nine-game homestand takes place immediately following the All-Star Break against the Astros (July 14-16), Yankees (July 17-19) and Pirates (July 21-23).

The road schedule features two different three-city trips: July 25-Aug. 2 (Detroit/Toronto/Atlanta) and Aug. 25-Sept. 3 (New York Mets/Philadelphia/Oakland). The Angels will conclude the regular season on Oct. 1 vs. Oakland, marking the first time since 2019 finishing the year at Angel Stadium.
