Since its inception in 2016, over $5.8 million has been invested in the education of young scholars in Southern California
ANAHEIM – The Angels Baseball Foundation (ABF) announced today that it has awarded 25 high school seniors from the Orange County and Los Angeles area with four-year scholarships through its Angels College Scholarship initiative. The program aims to assist the honorees with continuing their education at the collegiate level and graduating debt-free.
Celebrating the 11th year of the Angels College Scholarship program, the Angels Baseball Foundation has invested over $5.8 million since its inception in 2016. The program has awarded four-year scholarships to 230 exceptional high school seniors from the Orange County and Los Angeles area, many of whom are first-generation college students. Scholars are selected based on academic achievements, leadership, financial need, community involvement, and the desire to achieve a higher education. Funding is awarded up to four years, and is applied to primary undergraduate expenses such as tuition, room & board, textbooks and more. The students are also provided with direct access to Angels Baseball staff to receive support in navigating their four-year college journey.
“The Angels Baseball Foundation is extremely proud to play a role in the lives of these special students,” said Angels Baseball Foundation President, Dennis Kuhl. “These scholars embody characteristics that create a strong foundation to become future leaders. We look forward to their continuing success through education and more importantly, having a positive impact on our community.”
The 25 recipients for the class of 2030 were selected through a process involving recommendations from their high school’s AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program, high school counselors and the non-profit organizations they work with. These organizations include Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast and Community Action Partnership of Orange County. These impressive scholars will be attending highly acclaimed institutions such as UCLA, University of California at Berkeley and University of Notre Dame.
In addition, the Angels will honor 20 college graduates from the class of 2026 Angels College Scholarship program during a pregame ceremony on Sunday, July 5th when the Angels host the
Boston Red Sox. Scholars from the newly selected class of 2030 will join former recipients on the field to congratulate this year’s graduates. Media interested in covering the event should contact Grace McNamee at Grace.McNamee@angels.com
