Arizona Fall League announces Week 4 Hitter and Pitcher of the Week

Oct. 31, 2023 — The Arizona Fall League has announced its NFP Hitter and Pitcher of the Week for games from Oct. 23-28.

Co-Hitter of the Week: Peoria Javelinas OF Chase DeLauter (CLE)

Chase DeLauter hit .429 in three games, leading the league with eight RBI last week. Peoria went 2-1 with DeLauter in the lineup, while the outfielder putting forth a 3-for-5 effort with two runs scored in one game. He also was second in the Fall League with a 1.396 OPS. DeLauter had games with three and four RBIs, respectively. He raised his batting average from .224 to .270 in those three games. DeLauter said, “I’m just working on being on time as much as possible and trying to be athletic in the box.”

Co-Hitter of the Week: Surprise Saguaros INF CJ Alexander (KC)

CJ Alexander hit .368 in five games last week with 18 total bases to lead Surprise to a 4-1 record. He had multiple hits in three of his five contests with a league-leading three doubles along with two home runs. Alexander said, “I’m trusting everything I wanted to work on this offseason, seeing it work and having success, it’s pretty cool to see. I’m happy with it. I’m trusting myself and my approach, not second-guessing things.

Pitcher of the Week: Glendale Desert Dogs RHP Kendall Williams (LAD)

Kendall Williams pitched three shutout innings last week, striking out six of the 12 batters he faced. He had a 0.67 ERA, good for the lowest mark in the league last week with opponents hitting .100 off of him. He was second in the league with those six strikeouts. Williams said, “The biggest thing for me is pitching off of the heater. I was using that to set up my splitter and cutter and it synced up there.”

Regarded as the premier development league for baseball’s top prospects, the Arizona Fall League continues to feature top-caliber talent across all 30 MLB Clubs. AFL games can be seen at six Cactus League ballparks throughout the 2023 season – Camelback Ranch-Glendale, Peoria Sports Complex, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Sloan Park, Scottsdale Stadium and Surprise Stadium. The 17th annual Fall Stars Game (Sunday, Nov. 5) will be played at Sloan Park, and the AFL Championship Game (Saturday, Nov. 11) will return to Scottsdale Stadium, with both contests being televised on MLB Network.
