Luhnow and his staff are in Scottsdale, Ariz., this week taking part in MLB's Annual General Managers Meetings and have been preparing for the Annual Baseball Winter Meetings, which will be held in National Harbor, Md., from Dec. 5-8. Luhnow recently completed his fifth full season as General Manager of the Astros, after being named to the post at the 2011 Winter Meetings. In 2016, the Astros notched their second consecutive winning season, after finishing with an 84-78 record. It marked the first time the club has put together back-to-back winning seasons since 2005-06. So far this offseason, Luhnow and the Astros have claimed OF Nori Aoki off waivers from the Mariners, exercised a 2017 club option on C Evan Gattis, traded RHP Pat Neshek to the Phillies for a PTBNL and added LHP Reymin Guduan to the 40-man roster.
Ford enters his fourth season as the Astros radio play-by-play commentator after being named to the post on Feb. 13, 2013. Prior to joining the Astros radio broadcast team, Ford spent four seasons as the pre-and postgame host for the Kansas City Royals radio broadcasts on 610 AM KCSP, the Royals flagship station. The 2001 graduate of Syracuse University spent seven years broadcasting minor league baseball, calling more than 800 games during his stints with the Binghamton Mets, Kalamazoo Kings and Yakima Bears. Ford was twice named Frontier League Broadcaster of the Year (2003 and 2004).
