The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have placed OF KEVIN PILLAR on the 15-day disabled list with a left thumb sprain. OF DARRELL CECILIANI has been recalled from Buffalo.
PILLAR, 27, has appeared in 109 games this season, batting .261 with 36 extra-base hits (seven home runs), 10 stolen bases and 45 RBIs. The fourth-year pro has a 2.6 WAR this season, tied for second on the club with Edwin Encarnacion, behind only Josh Donaldson (6.2).
