Brandon Lowe has been named an N.L. Silver Slugger Award finalist among second basemen by Louisville Slugger. Lowe, who is looking to win his first Silver Slugger, is joined by Milwaukee’s Brice Turang.

Lowe hit .260 (152-for-584) with 29 doubles, 35 home runs, 96 RBI, a .331 on-base percentage, a .493 slugging percentage and an .824 OPS in 150 games with the Bucs in 2026, his first year with the team after being acquired from Tampa Bay (along with Jake Mangum/Mason Montgomery) on December 19, 2025.

He ranked sixth among all National League players in home runs, tied for seventh in both extra-base hits (65) and total bases (288), ninth in RBI and 10th in slugging percentage. Lowe also ranked first in all of Major League Baseball in home runs (33), slugging percentage (.499) and OPS (.831) as a second baseman.

Lowe’s 33 home runs as a second baseman were the most in franchise history (since 1887), surpassing Neil Walker, who hit 23 from the position in 2014. He would become the third Pirates second baseman to win a Silver Slugger Award since its inception in 1980, along with Johnny Ray (1983) and Walker (2014).

He joined Ralph Kiner (1947-52), Frank Thomas (1958), Dick Stuart (1961), Willie Stargell (1971, 1973), Brian Giles (1999-2002), Jason Bay (2006), Pedro Álvarez (2013) and Josh Bell (2019) as the only players in franchise history with at least 35 home runs in a season. The 35 home runs were also the second-most by any player in their first season with the team in club history, behind only Giles in 1999 (39).

Lowe, who is the team’s first Silver Slugger Award finalist since Bryan Reynolds in 2024, would become the 12th different Pittsburgh player or pitcher (22nd instance) to take home a Silver Slugger Award, joining Don Robinson (1982), Ray (1983), Rick Rhoden (three times; 1984-86), Bobby Bonilla (three times; 1988, 1990-91), Andy Van Slyke (two times; 1988, 1992), Barry Bonds (three times; 1990-92), Jay Bell (1993), Jack Wilson (2004), Andrew McCutchen (four times; 2012-15), Álvarez (2013) & Walker (2014).

He was Pittsburgh’s nominee for MLB’s Roberto Clemente Award and also earned his first career nomination for a Gold Glove Award at second base, joining Turang (winner) and St. Louis’ JJ Wetherholt.

Silver Slugger Award winners will be announced by Louisville Slugger on Tuesday, November 17.
