DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that Warren Schaeffer has been named the club’s manager. Schaeffer had been serving as interim manager since May 11, 2025, and will now assume the role on a full-time basis. He becomes the eighth full-time manager in club history.
Schaeffer, 40, has been a member of the Rockies organization for over a decade, serving in a variety of coaching and player development roles. Prior to his appointment as interim manager, he was the team’s third base and infield coach beginning in 2023.
“We’re confident Warren is the right person to lead our club moving forward,” said Rockies President of Baseball Operations Paul DePodesta. “He has established strong relationships with our players, understands the culture of this franchise and embodies the energy and work ethic we want on and off the field.”
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this team,” said Schaeffer. “My focus remains on continuing to build a strong, unified culture based on accountability, hard work and trust. We have a group of guys who care deeply about competing the right way, and my goal is to keep strengthening those relationships while leading a team that our fans can embrace and be proud of.”
A native of Vandergrift, Pa., Schaeffer was selected by Colorado in the 38th round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of Virginia Tech and played in the Rockies’ Minor League system from 2007-12. Following his playing career, he transitioned into coaching and began his managerial tenure in 2015 with the Single-A Asheville Tourists. He later managed the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats from 2018-19 and the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes from 2021-22 before joining the Major League coaching staff.
