D-backs acquire LHP Robby Scott from Cincinnati Reds

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired LHP Robby Scott (@RobbyScott36) from the Reds for cash considerations. The D-backs' 40-man roster is now at 39. u5:p
Scott, 29, has played parts of the last 3 seasons with the Red Sox (2016-18) and, in 73 relief appearances, is 3-2 with a 3.91 ERA (21 ER in 48.1 IP), .217 opponent average and 44 strikeouts. He has held lefties to a .149 average with 24 strikeouts (9 walks).u5:p
Last season, the 6-foot-2, 238-pounder appeared in 9 games (6.2 IP) for the Red Sox. In 45 games for Triple-A Pawtucket, he was 3-3 with 3 saves, a 1.86 ERA (10 ER in 48.1 IP), .200 opponent average and 63 strikeouts. He held lefties to a .148 average with 24 strikeouts (6 walks) and righties to a .228 average with 39 strikeouts (15 walks).u5:p
In 2017 with the Red Sox, he made a career-high 57 appearances and went 2-1 with a 3.79 ERA (15 ER in 35.2 IP), .179 opponent average, 0.98 WHIP and 31 strikeouts. He ranked seventh among AL relievers [min. 50 games] in opponent average (.179) and ninth in WHIP (0.98).u5:p
In 8 Minor League seasons in the Red Sox' system (2011-18), he appeared in 208 games (10 starts) and went 22-15 with 12 saves, a 2.58 ERA (106 ER in 369.2 IP), .221 opponent average and 343 strikeouts. u5:p
Scott was selected off waivers by the Reds from the Red Sox on Dec. 10. He signed with the Red Sox on Aug. 9, 2011, after having his contract purchased from the Yuma Scorpions (Independent League). He played collegiately at Florida State University.u5:p
