D-backs option Jon Duplantier to Triple-A Reno

Following Sunday’s game, the Arizona Diamondbacks optioned RHP Jon Duplantier to Triple-A Reno. A corresponding move will be made Tuesday.

Duplantier (pronounced: doo-PLON-tee-AY), 24, has made 3 scoreless appearances (8.0 IP) for the D-backs this season, including 4.0 scoreless innings with 1 hit allowed today vs. Cubs.

He made his Major League debut on April 1 @ Padres and earned a 3.0-inning save, becoming the second D-back with a save in his first career game (also: Byung-Hyun Kim on May 29, 1999 @ Mets), and the first pitcher to record a 3.0+ inning save in his debut since the Rays’ Dale Thayer on May 22, 2009.
