PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated C Alex Avila from the 10-day injured list (strained left calf) after optioning C Caleb Joseph to Triple-A Reno following last night’s game.

 Avila, 32, is hitting .220 (13-for-59)/.410 OBP/.508 SLG with 2 doubles, 5 home runs, 11 RBI and 18 walks in 25 games for the D-backs in 2019. He homered in his last 3 games prior his placement on the injured list on June 14, and his .431 on-base pct. leads all Major League catchers this season [min. 50 at-bats; stats as catcher only].

 Joseph, 33, has appeared in 13 games with Arizona in 2019 and is batting .143 (4-for-28) with 2 doubles, 2 RBI and 1 walk.
