D-backs select INF Matt McLain with 25th overall pick in 2018 MLB Draft

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) selected INF Matt McLain (@mattmclain_) from Beckman (Calif.) High School with the 25th pick in the 2018 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) selected INF Matt McLain (@mattmclain_) from Beckman (Calif.) High School with the 25th pick in the 2018 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

In 26 games as a senior at Beckman High School in 2018, McLain, 18, hit .369 (31-for-84)/.461 OBP/.595 SLG with 6 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, 14 RBI and 16 walks, playing primarily as a shortstop. He was named First-Team All-Pacific Coast League in each of his 4 years of high school, including conference Player of the Year honors twice (2015, '18). He and his younger brothers, Nick and Sean, helped lead Beckman to the California Southern Section Division 2 championship last weekend, but fell to Yucaipa High School.u6:p
