Six Arizona-based nonprofits are set to expand their reach across the state after being surprised with a combined $1 million in grant funding through the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation’s 2026 Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Awards during the team’s annual Evening on the Diamond on March 21.
Established in 2002, this signature grant program has awarded more than $13.8 million to organizations across Arizona, supporting transformative, large-scale projects that drive long-term change by expanding services, improving operations and strengthening communities. These grants are a cornerstone of the D-backs’ broader community giving efforts, which have now surpassed $100 million in total impact.
The Arizona Diamondbacks congratulate the recipients below and thank them for their continued dedication to serving our community:
Arizona Educational Foundation – D-backs Data Dugout: Funding will support the creation of a first-of-its-kind, real-time education data platform that provides a more complete and accurate picture of student achievement across Arizona. The tool will transform complex data into accessible visuals, empowering educators, families and policymakers to better understand and support student success statewide.
Delivering Dreams Arizona – Delivering Dreams Depot: Grant funds will help construct a dedicated facility to house and protect mobile “Delivering Dreams” buses that provide clothing and hygiene essentials to thousands of students in need. The project will extend the life of these buses, improve operational efficiency and ensure continued service to children facing clothing insecurity across the Phoenix area.
Foundation for Blind Children – Baxter’s Sensory Room: Support will fund the creation of a sensory room and facility upgrades designed to help visually impaired students better regulate, learn and engage. The enhancements will create a safer, more accessible and welcoming environment while improving educational outcomes and support services for students and families.
Keys to Change – Brian Garcia Welcome Center Expansion: Funding will expand and modernize the Welcome Center, a 24/7 hub that provides immediate services and housing support for individuals experiencing homelessness. The project will increase capacity, improve client flow and enhance the organization’s ability to connect more individuals to critical resources and long-term housing solutions.
Phoenix Public Library Foundation – The Harmon Library Children’s Area: Grant funds will renovate the children’s area at Harmon Library, creating a more engaging, developmentally appropriate space that supports early literacy and school readiness. The upgraded environment will expand access to educational resources and better serve families in a high-need community.
Southwest Human Development – ADAPT Shop Expansion: Funding will support a new, centralized facility that expands the ADAPT Shop and other early childhood programs, increasing capacity to serve children with disabilities and their families. The project will improve efficiency, reduce turnaround times for adaptive equipment and create new opportunities for volunteer and community engagement.
