Dodgers acquire Ariel Hernandez from Reds

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Minor League right-handed pitcher Ariel Hernandez from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for Minor League pitcher Zach Neal and first baseman Ibandel Isabel on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Minor League right-handed pitcher Ariel Hernandez from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for Minor League pitcher Zach Neal and first baseman Ibandel Isabel on Tuesday.
Hernandez, 26, appeared in three games with Cincinnati's Double-A Pensacola, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings and collecting two saves this year. In 2017, Hernandez spent most of the season in the minor leagues, where he posted a 3.24 ERA with one save in 39 relief appearances for Pensacola and Triple-A Louisville.
He made his Major League debut with Cincinnati in 2017, making 19 relief appearances during four stints with the Reds, posting a 5.18 ERA (14 ER/24.1 IP) while striking out 29 batters. The Dominican Republic native has appeared in 167 minor league games with a 17-6 record and 3.70 ERA while also collecting 12 saves over nine seasons with the Giants (2009-2015), Diamondbacks (2016) and Reds (2017-2018).
Neal, 29, was a non-roster invitee in this year's camp with the Dodgers and made one relief appearance with the club on April 3 against the Diamondbacks, where he allowed one run on two hits in an inning of relief.
Isabel, 22, has spent six professional seasons in the minors with the Dodgers organization (2013-2018), posting a .283 average including 53 home runs and 211 RBI in 326 games.
The Dodgers now have 40 players on the 40-man roster.
