Dodgers Activate Roki Sasaki

DODGERS ACTIVATE ROKI SASAKI

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated right-handed pitcher Roki Sasaki from the injured list and placed right-handed pitcher Kirby Yates on the injured list with a right hamstring strain, backdated to September 21.

Sasaki, 23, has been out with right shoulder impingement since May 13. On the season, he is 1-1 with a 4.72 ERA in eight starts. He made seven rehab appearances, five starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing 14 runs in 20.2 innings with 19 strikeouts. His last two appearances came from the bullpen, tossing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. He joined the Dodgers on January 22 after spending the last four seasons with the Chiba Lotte Marines of the Nippon Professional Baseball league. The right-hander went 10-5 with a 2.35 ERA in 111 innings last year for the Marines. He struck out 129 batters against 32 walks while posting a 1.036 WHIP. He went 30-15 with a 2.02 ERA in four seasons with the Chiba Lotte Marines.

Yates, 38, heads to the injured list for the third time this season. He is 4-3 with a 5.23 ERA in 50 games for the Dodgers. In 472 career games with the Tampa Bay Rays (2014-15), New York Yankees (2016), Los Angeles Angels (2017), San Diego Padres (2017-20), Atlanta Braves (2022-23), Texas Rangers (2024) and Dodgers (2025), he is 30-24 with 98 saves and 623 strikeouts in 452.2 innings. The Hawaii native was signed by the Rays as an undrafted free agent on June 22, 2009.
