LOS ANGELES - Fans attending the Opening Series this past weekend at Dodger Stadium were treated to technological upgrades that enhanced the fan experience by expediting the entry process, shortening wait times at concession stands and accessing DodgersWiFi, a faster public wireless network.
Over the weekend, Dodger Stadium became the first stadium in the country to fully integrate near field communication (NFC) ticketing technology stadium-wide, allowing fans the option of an expedited entry process by simply tapping their devices with an Apple Wallet on turnstiles. To utilize, fans should transfer their electronic tickets to their Apple Wallet. Upon approaching the turnstiles, tickets will automatically populate, allowing fans to tap their iPhones or Apple watches on the turnstiles for expedited, touchless entry. Fans without the Apple Wallet will still be able to enter the stadium by having the barcode scanned on their print-at-home tickets and MLB's Ballpark App on their mobile devices.
Fans were also able to benefit from self-service kiosks at concession stands throughout the stadium, allowing for expedited ordering, quicker check-out and pick-up, a visual menu to assist in food selection, better communication of special menu items and ultimately, a faster return to watching the game.
